Are You Called to Serve?
“We are but visitors on this planet. We are here for ninety or one hundred years at the very most. Durring that period we must try to do something useful with our lives. If you contribute to other people’s happiness, you will find the true goal, the true meaning of life.”
So you have probably noticed something different going on lately with my posts and activity on social media, and I thought it was about time I address it with you all.
I started this blog a little over two years ago to be an outlet for a personal passion. I have been teetering on making that passion more than just a hobby for about the same time, but never decided to take the chance or fully put myself out there. For one, being vulnerable has never felt very comfortable to me and second, I never felt like I knew enough to help other people, so I kept pouring myself into learning more, knowing more. But at some point there comes a time when the student is ready to become the teacher. Where you can no longer ignore the passion that burns inside, that calls you to serve others and teach them all that you know to make their lives better through improved health and fitness.
So here I am today, proclaiming that I will no longer sit back idle as the voice of Stronger Me. I will use it as a platform to enable others to get all that they can out of life using their health and fitness as a springboard. I will empower others to use simple and practical skills to enable them to reach their goals; no wizardry, no BS! My goal is that eventually my clients will no longer need me, that I have helped them build the skills and confidence they need to continue on the journey, after all, this is a way of life, not a quick fix.
You will see lots of changes occuring over the course of the month as I prepare to relaunch my brand and begin to offer services. I will be continuing my own brand where I will focus on a deeper level of nutrition coaching, for those that just cannot seem to figure it out on their own, have tried a million diets and failed or simply need someone to help keep them accountable and maybe kick their butt on occassion (gently :)). But there is another component I have added to all of this and it was not an easy decision, it is actually one that I scrutinized quite heavily before I made the decision to go all in. And that was to become a Beachbody coach.
Now before you cringe (that was the response I used to have), know this, I am first and foremost, not a sales person. I am me. A person that loves all things health and fitness and a person that feels called to serve other people, not just myself. So why Beachbody then?
Here’s the thing, once you have a baby and you really get to see just how much your world is flipped upside down, you start to take inventory of your life and have to learn how to reprioritize now that a little person depends on you for just about EVERYTHING. Of course, I went into it thinking, “I will still have time to get to the gym and lift and do yoga.” Ha! After a few valiant attempts to make it so, I kept coming back to the same place…I can’t have it all (at least the ALL I was trying to have)! If I went to the gym for an hour, I felt guilty, because that was time I was spending away from my son and time at this age is beyond precious! Add to that, I am working part time and already spend 3 out of 7 days away from him for most the day. Stack on more mommy guilt! Plus, I WANT the time with him. I know I can never get it back! But I still want to prioritize my own health and fitness. So what’s a woman to do? Being pulled in two directions is difficult. But deep down I know, if I am taking care of myself (mind and body), I am better equipped to take care of others. Enter Beachbody.
I had been trying to find the perfect solution to my dilemma: workouts I can do from home in minimal time that are enjoyable (the latter being KEY). So I decided to give Beachbody a try, and I couldn’t be more pleased. No, it doesn’t feed the side of me that wants to be in the gym lifting heavy, but it does feed the side of me that needs to move and in a variety of ways. Instead of conitnuing to feel sorry for myself and my lack of ability to get to the gym, I sought out an alternative, and something that would prevent me from making excuses!
We often think we need to do MORE, be MORE. Everything is more, more, more. If you’re anything like me, the constant mores of life get exhausting. And when you have so many things on your plate, trying to do more when it comes to your health and fitness, is quite simply impossible or challenging at best. So how do we feel like we are doing more with really not having to do all that much more? Find a way to incorporate any kind of movement into your day that doesn’t impact or has minimal impact on the structure of your day. For me squeezing in 30 mins before the baby wakes up, is totally feasible. Will I feel like it everyday? Hell no! But I know once I get past that initial 2 seconds of suckiness and jump out of bed, it will have been totally worth it.
So coming back to the topic at hand, my feeling of being called to serve. I want to offer a complete service to those who are interested in taking their health and fitness to the next level, but struggle to keep momentum going and don’t know where to go when they start to fall flat or plateau. Helping you get out of your head and into action. Providing a judgement free zone where we can get to the root of what’s holding you back and get you on the path to better health and fitness. Whatever it is you are after, I want that for you and so much more. I know the power exercise, nutrition and self-care can have to change your life, and I want to give you the gift that it’s given me.
Whether you’re looking to lose that last few pounds of baby weight, lose what feels to be a mountain of weight or just improve your overall health, I want to work with you to finally reach the goals that have eluded you and reach some you never thought possible! I truly believe that when you surround yourself with people that not only empathize with what you’re going through, but encourage you 100% of the time, you can achieve so much more than you could on your own and so much more than you ever thought you were capable of.
As a part of this transformation into offering tangible services, you will start seeing a rebrand of the site. Stronger Me was an outlet for me and my growth into the strongest version of myself. This is now about so much more than me and my journey. That is not to say I am going to stop sharing my own journey. I want you to see the ups, the downs, the good, the bad and everything in between that comprises striving for my personal best. I want to inspire and motivate and above else, empower you to take action for yourself and build Forward Momentum.
Stronger Me will become Forward Momentum in the coming weeks, centered around the philosophy that little steps forward build momentum and enable you to reach your goals better than huge leaps that are unsustainable. Sustainability is my mantra and is what I seek for myself and you. No crash diets. No extreme measures. No exercise til you drop! I rely on, what will seem like, common sense, and a no BS approach. I will never sugar coat things or set unrealistic goals for you. I will offer support and encouragement and a dose of reality when you are being unrealistic, becuase that’s what coaches that care do. I know what it takes to succeed and I want you to succeed. I won’t offer a cookie cutter approach because we are all different and driven by different factors. With that in mind, one of the first things I get to is your WHY. I need to understand what motivates you and see if you’re really ready to take the steps it requires to change, because while change is simple, it is not easy. It will require you to get out of your comfort zone. It will require effort. It will require faith. And most importantly, it will require desire. As much as I wish I could give you the desire component, that is simply the only thing I really cannot. I cannot want it for you. You have to want it for yourself. And if you do, I’m here ready to support and guide you 100%.
