Change

Some big changes are happening in my life, and this week I wanted to take the opportunity to share some of them and talk a little bit about the exciting and, frankly, terrifying, notion of change.

First and foremost, you may have noticed the site has changed as well as the URL (Save www.strongerme.co if you follow this blog) ūüôā ¬†All of this a part of a step towards embracing change and the journey that lies ahead, which I will talk more about below. ¬†I hope you enjoy the new layout and the new content I will be bringing to you on a regular basis. Now, on to the meat of this post!

I am not quite sure why we as humans are so averse to change, but it is a common thread in all of our lives. ¬†At some point we are going to have to change something, or face changing something in our lives. ¬†We can either face it with fear and trepidation or we can embrace that change is a natural part of life and #justgowithit. ¬† Today I want to talk about just that…facing the fear of change head on and trusting your gut instincts to guide you on the journey that lays ahead.

As I write this post I sit on a plane headed to a health and fitness business retreat in beautiful Asheville, NC (if you haven’t been to Asheville, put it on your list!). One of the biggest changes I am facing at the moment has to do with my career and ending an 7+ year stint at a digital agency as account manager. ¬†And while I didn’t just up and leave to completely start over in my career, it has awakened a spirit living inside me to pursue something I have been passionate about for quite some time…health and fitness. ¬†Now I know radical changes do not happen overnight, but once a seed is planted in your heart, isn’t it worth exploring? I say hells to the yes!! So I’m headed to NC to learn from some of the best and brightest in the industry and see what I can do about taking strides towards starting my own online health and fitness business. I’m sure the road won’t be without it’s twists and turns and that it will be travelled for a long period to get where I want, but I am prepared to do the work and embrace the adversity I may face along the way.

While I will not be hanging up my day job shoes just yet, I am excited about what the future holds and investing time in something that truly makes me happy and gives me a sense of purpose. I love the idea of being able to have a positive impact on other people’s lives by helping them channel the best version of themselves; it lives within all of us and sometimes needs just a little nudge to come out.

Additionally on the change front, I am excited to finally be back with my husband full-time on the same coast! For those of you that do not know, we have spent the better part of 5 years apart, with about 50% of our time spent together. ¬†For years people have asked how in the world we make that work. ¬†I always tell people, I am no marriage counsellor, but I would never recommend doing what we did. ¬†It is very tough to build a relationship spending so much time apart. ¬†You become so independent, and for two people who were already very independent, it can become even more difficult! ¬†But if you have to endure a similar situation, communication is KEY! (I do not use the word “endure” lightly here, as there are undoubtedly long and tough stretches you have to fight through). And while I have no regrets about the course we’ve endured, I also know how much easier the road would have been without the barrier of distance. ¬†Irregardless, we managed to weather the storm and here we are back together in CA! One change I definitely welcome with open arms!

Since I am all about embracing change at this moment in time, as I do in most posts,¬†I would like to pose a challenge to my readers. ¬†I challenge you, whether you are going through change(s) now or face them in the future, #leanin and follow your gut (i.e. inner self). ¬†It could be telling you to make a bigger change than you thought, and for the better. ¬†If you are not happy with the direction you are headed, it is within your power to change it. ¬†Change is really hard but can be super rewarding. Don’t let the fear of change shush¬†your inner voice. Only you know what’s right for you #unapologeticallyyou.

While I am sure more changes will be in the cards for me as I work towards new goals and readjust to true married life, I am excited about what the future holds and will continue to keep you in the loop as to my struggles and achievements.

Thank you for being on this journey with me.

Stronger together!
